Fish in Tamrind Curry


Andra style fish curry is well blended with tamarind juice and other spices. Fish in tamarind sauce is quiet a spicy and tangy fish curry and one of the best fish recipes. It is also called as Meen Kozhambu in the Tamil Nadu and Kerala states of India especially the coastal regions.
Ingredients

  • Fish 500 g
  • Sesame seed oil 3 tsp
  • Mustard seeds ½ tsp
    Whole red chilly 4
    Cumin seeds ½ tsp
    Fenugreek seeds ¼ tsp
    Fennel seeds ½ tsp
  • Whole garlic 4 
  • Green chilly 5 
  • Curry leaves 8 
  • Onion paste 1 cup
    Turmeric 1/4 tsp
    Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
    Cumin powder 1 tsp
    Coriander powder 1 tsp
    Chilly powder 1 tsp
  • Tomato puree 1 cup
    Tamarind juice ½ cup
    Salt to taste

Method
Heat sesame oil in a pot and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds whole red chilly, fenugreek seeds, fennel seeds, whole garlic, green chilly, curry leaves, onion paste, turmeric, cook for some time add ginger garlic paste, once this masala is cooked add chilly powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, tomato puree, add water, and tamarind juice, cook for 30 minutes, and add fish put the lid on and cook for 5 minutes in a slow flame.
