Vegetable Semiya Upma

Vegetable Semiya Upma is a very south Indians house hold specialty breakfast dish and this recipe will be a easy guied for making it

  • Semiya 1 cup
  • Ghee 1 ½ tb
  • Mustard seeds ¼ ts
  • Cumin seeds ¼ ts
  • Chana daal ¼ ts
  • Urad daal ¼ ts
  • Cashew nuts 10 g
  • Ginger chopped ¼ ts
  • Green chilly 4 n
  • Curry leaves 2 sp
  • Hing optional
  • Turmeric pinch
  • Onion chopped (medium size) 1 n
  • Salt
  • Carrot pieces ¼ cup
  • Potato pieces ¼ cup
  • Green peas ¼ cup
  • Sweet corn ¼ cup
  • Lime juice 1 ts
  • Coriander chopped ½ bunch

 Method

Heat ghee in a pan add semiya and roast it and keep it aside.
In the same pan add ghee, mustard seeds, when mustard seeds is splutter, add chana daal, Urad daal, cashew nuts, sauté it till daals are slightly brown, add chopped ginger, chopped green chilly, curry leaves, hing, turmeric, chopped onions, salt, sauté it for a minute and add carrot, potatoes, green pea, sweet corn, mix it well, add water, once it comes to boil add semiya, mix it and put the lid on let it cook for 2 minutes, then sprinkle the lime juice & coriander chopped put the lid on and let it cook for one more minute the switch off the flame.

Serve this with sesame seeds chutney
