| Ingredients used in Shallots Baby Onion Garlic Sambar |
| • Oil - as required. |
| • Mustard seeds - 1 tea spoon. |
| • Baby onions - 15 number. |
| • Cumin seeds - 1 tea spoon. |
| • Dry red chilies - 3 number. |
| • Green chilies - 3 number. |
| • Curry leaves - 3 springs. |
| • Hing - 1/2 tea spoon. |
| • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tea spoon. |
| • Garlic - 5 number. |
| • Tomato (chopped) - 3 number. |
| • Tamarind pulp - 1 cup. |
| • Water - as required. |
| • Salt - to taste. |
| • Sambar powder - 1 tablespoon. |
| • Red chili powder - 1 tea spoon. |
| • Jaggery - 1 tea spoon. |
| • Coconut milk - 1/2 cup. |
| • Toor dal - 1 cup. |
| • Coriander leaves - 1/2 cup. |
| Method: |
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds when they splutter, add cumin seeds, dry red chilies, green chilies, curry leaves, hing, turmeric, garlic and saute well.
- Add chopped tomatoes, tamarind pulp, water, salt and let it boil.
- Now add sambar powder, red chili powder, jaggery, coconut milk and put on lid and cook it.
- Then add boiled toor dal, cook for few more mins, add coriander leaves andgive it a mix.
Shallots Baby Onion Garlic Sambar is now ready to serve with hot rice.
