Most simple of all flavored rices is jeera rice and is excellent
accompaniment with all dishes Jeera or Zeera rice is a popular north
India dish made of basmati rice slightly spiced and flavored with lots
of cumin seeds.
jeera rice
Ingredients
1 cup basmati rice
1 tsp butter or oil
1/4 bunch coriander leaves
1 tsp fried onion
2 green chilli
1 tsp jeera (cumin)
1/4 bunch mint (optional)
1 pinch saffron color optional
1 to taste salt
2 cup water
Method
Heat oil in a pan
add cumin ,green chilli , mint and coriander fry add water twice the amount of measured rice
bring the water to boil add salt
add pre soaked rice bring it to boil till 90% of water is absorbed add fried onion and saffron color is optional,
and reduce the flame to minimal and cook covered for 5 more min and you will have awesome jeera rice have it with chicken curry,or simple daal.
