Sambhar daal

This tasty and easy Sambar is a dish in South Indian and Sri Lanka Tamil cuisines, made of toor dal and veggies,sambar masala. A variant of sambar called pappuchaaru is more common in Andhra Pradesh.
  • Drum sticks 1 
  • Egg plant 2
  • Bottle guard 8 pieces
    Carrot 2 
  • Curry leaves 6 
  • Onion shallot 10
  •  Onions 1 
  • Salt 2tsp
    Oil 2tsp
    Turmeric 1/4 tsp
  • Red chilly 4 
  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp
    Cumin seeds 1 tsp
    Hing
    Fenugreek seeds ¼ t
  • Red chilly powder 2 tbsp
    Garlic 4
  • Tamarind 1/2 cup
    Tomato 3 
  • Jaggery 1 tbsp
  • Coconut milk ½ cup
  • Sambhar powder 2 tbsp

Boil the tuvar dal in a pressure cooker until dal is soft.

Heat oil in a pan add red chilly, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, turmeric, red hilly powder, hing, garlic pieces, and add drum sticks, egg plant, bottle guard, carrot, curry leaves, onions, onion shallots, saute this and add tomatoes, tamarind juice, sambhar powder, jaggery, coconut milk, salt, add water put the lid on till the vegetables are tender.
Add boiled and mashed dal and place the lid and cook for 15 minutes in a slow flame.
