Chicken Fried Chicken

This is chicken fried with a coating and topped with white gravy it has herbs spices and very popular in Southern States

Chicken Fried Chicken and Country Gravy

INGREDIENTS:

Coating

Flour

salt, pepper

Cayenne pepper

Granulated garlic

paprika

boneless chicken breasts sliced thin

vegetable oil blended with olive oil or use canola oil

Buttermilk or Evaporated milk



Optional herbs to use: 1 teaspoon each, rosemary, oregano, basil, parsley for Italian flavored coating.

Place the flour and spices in the zip lock bag. Dip the chicken in buttermilk, shake in the seasoned flour. Dip again, then dredge into flour again. Lay on wax paper until the oil is heated.

Heat oil.
In a large fry pan heat oil to medium heat around 4 or 5 on the dial.

Fry the dipped chicken fillets in oil (around 3 minutes on each side depending on thickness) until they're getting a nicely browned coating.

Make the Country Gravy:

3 tablespoons butter or
1 lb pork sausage loose
3 tablespoons bacon grease
1/4 cup flour
3 cups milk
salt and pepper to taste
Brown pork, use drippings of choice, add the flour and stir. Keep stirring until it thicken around 15 minutes.
Place Chicken on the plate. Pour hot gravy over it, there you have it Southern Style Chicken Fried Chicken.

Buttermilk Tip:  If you don't have any buttermilk, add 1 tablespoon white vinegar or lemon juice per 1 cup milk to substitute.
