Fried Upma



Fried Upma
This is an innovative recipe of Upma. I have cooled the upma to cut into cubes and then fried it. Tastes yummy. Give it a try.

Ingredients :
1 cup Semolina
1 medium onion chopped
1 green chili chopped
1/2 tea spoon lemon juice
1 tea spoon chickpea split (soaked in water for 1 hr)
1 tea spoon white lentil (soaked in water  for 1 hr )
salt to taste
pinch of asafoetida 
curry leaves 4-5
mustard seeds 1/2 tea spoon
sesame seeds 1/2 tea spoon
 refined oil 3 tbsp

method
Recipe : Roast the semolina on low flame for 7-8 minutes, keep aside. 
Heat 1 tbsp refined oil in a pan, add asafoetida, and soaked lentils and saute for 2-3 minutes,.
Add onions and green chili and saute for 2-3 minutes. 
Add roasted semolina, salt to taste and saute, add hot water, lemon juice and stir continuously to avoid lumps till the mixture becomes thick. 
Spread the mixture in a greased plated evenly and let it cool. Cut square pieces after cooling. 
Now heat remaining oil in a non stick pan. 
Add mustard seeds, sesame seeds, and curry leaves, when they crackle, add the cubes and fry it on low flame for 6-7 minutes.  Tasty fried Upma is ready.
 Serve Hot.
